With his new song “Cartagine”, Gionathan tells of missed opportunities that leave an unbearable emptiness and for which you sometimes have to forgive yourself.
We hear powerful and independent music that takes us to that spiritual place where each of us searches for answers and solutions with an electronic soundscape. A place that is also well represented by the artwork of the single cover.
The song “Cartagine” explodes into a gloomy chorus with rocking vocals, very convincing, but also unusual for the Turin-based Gionathan, who has so far accustomed us to more smooth and fun sounds.
As in most of Gionathan’s songs, however, there is no lack of a hopeful view of tomorrow, away from the ruins of the fallen city of Cartagine.

Mark Twain diceva “tra vent’anni sarai più dispiaciuto per le cose che non hai fatto che per quelle che hai fatto”.
Gionathan, con la sua nuova release “Cartagine”, ci parla di occasioni mancate, quelle che lasciano “un vuoto assordante come il silenzio”, quelle per le quali a volte è necessario perdonare se stessi.
Un brano potente e originale che ci porta, con il suo sound elettronico, in quel luogo mentale dove ognuno di noi cerca risposte e soluzioni, un luogo così ben evocato anche dalla copertina del singolo.
Il pezzo esplode in un grintoso ritornello dal piglio vocale rock, estremamente convincente ma anche insolito per il cantautore torinese, che fino qui ci ha abituato a sonorità più sinuose e divertenti.
Non manca, come nella maggior parte delle canzoni di Gionathan, uno sguardo fiducioso verso il domani, verso il nuovo sole che sorge, verso ciò che c’è fuori dalla mia e dalla tua stanza dei pensieri, lontano dalle rovine della città caduta di Cartagine, sulle quali non ci resta che ballare metaforicamente.

Gionathan erzählt mit seinem neuen Song “Cartagine” von verpassten Gelegenheiten, die eine unerträgliche Leere hinterlassen und für die man sich manchmal selbst verzeihen muss.
Wir hören kraftvolle und eigenständige Musik, welche uns mit einem elektronischen Klanggewand an jenen geistigen Ort führt, wo jeder von uns nach Antworten und Lösungen sucht. Einen Ort, der auch durch das Artwork des Singlecovers gut dargestellt wird.
Der Song “Cartagine” explodiert in einem düsteren Refrain mit rockigem Gesang, sehr überzeugend, aber auch ungewöhnlich für den Turiner Gionathan, der uns bisher eher an geschmeidige und lustige Klänge gewöhnt hat.
Wie in den meisten Liedern von Gionathan fehlt aber der hoffnungsvolle Blick auf das Morgen nicht, weg von den Ruinen der gefallenen Stadt Cartagine.
