The musician daFOO from Aargau visited the internationally successful German songwriter Daniel Volpe (Paty Cantú, CALVO, Jermaine Jackson, Eliane, …) for his latest single STARBOY. After the songwriting, it quickly became clear that Daniel Volpe would also do the production for STARBOY. Already in the songwriting process the song got its wonderful character, which had to be refined afterwards. With STARBOY was created an incredibly catchy and yet independent pop song with a lot of 80s feeling and positive vibes for a challenging time.
Although the song was written in August 2019, the message seems to be more current than ever in times of Covid-19 and quarantines. Starboy is a lonely space cowboy. He longs for his home. He’s running out of fuel. Should he make an emergency call? Will he make it back to his beloved? The Starboy longs to get back on solid ground under his feet. Right now, people are longing for their habitual everyday life and freedom – solid ground under their feet again. We would like to have some reference point to know how long this exceptional situation will last and whether the people and the economy will have the strength to get through this difficult time undamaged.

Der Aargauer daFOO besuchte für seine neuste Single STARBOY den international erfolgreichen deutschen Songwriter Daniel Volpe (Paty Cantú, CALVO, Jermaine Jackson, Eliane, …). Nach dem Songwriting wurde auch schnell klar, dass Daniel Volpe bei STARBOY auch die Produktion umsetzt. Bereits im Songwritingprozess bekam der Song seinen wunderbaren Charakter, welchen es anschliessend zu verfeinern galt. Mit STARBOY entstand ein unglaublich eingängiger und doch sehr eigenständiger Pop-Song mit sehr viel 80er Jahre Feeling und positiven Vibes für eine herausfordernde Zeit.
Obwohl der Song im August 2019 entstanden ist, scheint die Message in Zeiten von Covid-19 und Quarantänen aktueller denn je zu sein. Starboy ist ein einsamer Space Cowboy. Er sehnt sich nach seinem Daheim. Das Benzin geht aus. Ein Notruf? Schafft er es wieder zu seiner Geliebten? Der Starboy sehnt sich danach, wieder festen Boden unter seine Füsse zu kriegen. Gerade jetzt wünschen sich die Menschen ihren gewohnte Alltag und Freiheiten zurück – wieder festen Boden unter den Füssen. Man wünscht sich einen Anhaltspunkt wie lange dieser Ausnahmezustand noch dauert und ob die Menschen und die Wirtschaft die Kraft haben unversehrt diese schwierige Zeit durchzustehen.

Il musicista argoviese daFOO, per scrivere il suo ultimo singolo STARBOY è andato a trovare il cantautore tedesco di successo internazionale Daniel Volpe (Paty Cantú, CALVO, Jermaine Jackson, Eliane, …). Dopo aver scritto la canzone, è stato subito chiaro che Daniel Volpe avrebbe fatto anche la produzione di STARBOY. Già nel processo di songwriting la canzone ha ricevuto un carattere speciale, che in seguito ha dovuto essere perfezionato. Con STARBOY è stata creata una canzone pop incredibilmente orecchiabile ma indipendente, con molto feeling anni ’80 e vibes positivi per un periodo difficile.
Sebbene la canzone sia stata scritta nell’agosto del 2019, il messaggio sembra essere più attuale che mai in tempi di Covid-19 e quarantene. Starboy è un cowboy spaziale solitario. Desidera ritornare a casa e sta esaurendo il carburante. Dovrebbe fare una chiamata d’emergenza? Riuscirà a tornare dalla sua amata? Starboy desidera sentire di nuovo terra ferma sotto i suoi piedi. In questo momento le persone desiderano ritornare alla loro vita quotidiana abituale e alla libertà – avere di nuovo un terreno solido sotto i loro piedi. Vorremmo avere un punto di riferimento per sapere quanto durerà questa situazione particolare e se la gente e l’economia avranno la forza di superare indenni questo difficile momento.
