The song “This is the Sea” is actually already over 20 years old. However, the heavy story around the creation of this song needed the right time for a release. Patrick Jonsson: “When I was studying in Liverpool in 2000, a good friend of mine died very unexpectedly.”
At that time, there were not many flights from Liverpool to Switzerland and Patrick Jonsson was very short of money. “I couldn’t fly to Lucerne for the funeral, which put a lot of strain on me. So I threw myself into this song and tried to put my emotional state into music and words.”
Right now we are experiencing how our possibility to travel is very limited and it is not always possible to visit our loved ones, or to be able to say goodbye to someone. This reminded Patrick Jonsson of this song and with a delicate lo-fi sound he also found the appropriate sound dress.

Der Song “This is the Sea” ist eigentlich bereits über 20 Jahre alt. Die schwere Geschichte rund um die Entstehung dieses Songs brauchte jedoch den richtigen Zeitpunkt für eine Veröffentlichung. Dazu Patrick Jonsson: “Als ich 2000 in Liverpool studierte, starb sehr überraschend ein guter Freund von mir.”
Zu dieser Zeit gab es noch nicht viele Flugverbindungen von Liverpool in die Schweiz und Patrick Jonsson war sehr knapp bei Kasse. “Ich konnte nicht an die Beerdigung nach Luzern fliegen, was mich sehr belastete. Ich habe mich dann in diesen Song gestürzt und versucht meinen Gefühlszustand in Musik und Worte zu fassen.”
Zur Zeit erleben wir, wie unser Reisen stark eingeschränkt ist und es nicht immer möglich ist unsere Lieben zu besuchen, oder von jemandem Abschied nehmen zu können. Dies erinnerte Patrick Jonsson an diesen Song und mit einem feinfühligem Lo-Fi Sound wurde auch das passende Soundgewand gefunden.

La canzone “This is the Sea”, in realtà è stata scritta già più di 20 anni fa. Ma la storia difficile da cui è nata questo brano, aveva bisogno del momento giusto per una pubblicazione. Patrick Jonsson: “Quando studiavo a Liverpool nel 2000, un mio caro amico è morto molto inaspettatamente.”
In quel periodo non c’erano molti voli da Liverpool alla Svizzera e Patrick Jonsson era molto a corto di soldi. “Non ho potuto prendere un volo verso Lucerna per andare al funerale, il che mi ha messo a dura prova. Così mi sono buttato in questa canzone e ho cercato di mettere il mio stato emotivo in musica e parole”.
Attualmente tutti noi siamo molto limitati nelle nostre possibilità di viaggiare e non sempre è possibile visitare i nostri cari, o dire addio a qualcuno di importante. Così Patrick Jonsson si è ricordato di questa canzone e con un delicato sound lo-fi ha trovato anche la veste sonora adatta.
